Robert Chelin is a Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) who has been practicing
Podiatry in Toronto since 1982. Having graduated from the University
of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1978, he then studied
podiatry in Chicago for the next 4 years at the Dr. William M Scholl
College of Podiatric Medicine, graduating as a podiatrist in 1982.
He went on
to do a preceptorship. Robert is a past President of the Ontario and
Canadian Podiatric Medical Associations. He is also a fellow of the
Academy of Ambulatory Foot and Ankle Surgery as well as a Diplomat of
the American Academy of Pain Management.
In
2000, Robert became the first Canadian ever to serve as delegate
to the International federation of Podiatrists and has recently
been elected to serve as its Vice-President.
Robert is certified
in Diagnostic Ultrasound and has received extensive training in
Endoscopic Plantar Fascial releases and Extra-Corporeal Shockwave
Therapy (ESWT). Robert is one of the Canadian pioneers in Minimal
Incision Surgery. In 2005 Robert has become the first Canadian
to be trained to correct Flatfeet and Hyperpronation using the
new and revolutionary Hyprocure titanium implant.
As a member of the
Advisory Board of The Health Journal, Canada's authoritative health
forum, Robert has advised and published many articles. Robert has
made several television appearances, such as the CBC's
Health Show and the Life Channel and has written articles in the Toronto
Star, Globe and Mail, Toronto
Sun, Chatelaine Magazine, Homemakers
Magazine,
Today's Parent and Flare Magazine. Most recently his article on cosmetic
foot surgery appeared in The National Post.
